Wow! Merida is a fantastic town. The Hotel Caribe situated in the Historic District was an excellent location for the Rudels and Strongs. A block away was the Grand Plaza where everything happens that is good in this town. We will share other stories that don't have the good. Below is 2nd oldest church in the New World still in existence today. It was started in 1542 with the founding of Merida and finished in 1590. It is an impressive building, to say the least.

We all enjoyed the pigeons in the Grand Plaza. Again, the pigeon took to Sydney.

Merida is famous for their weired, S-shaped park chairs. (Natalie thinks they are lovely and romantic.)

Where did Sydney come from?

Natalie on the park chair. Who is that grumpy old gringo behind her?

After her first love, pigeons, Sydney found an old lady selling corn for 10 pesos. She had 4 corns on-the-cob that day and was still begging for more before bed.

The kids look so cute. I actually had to pay them to stop tormenting each other. If you look closely, Sydney is actually pinching Collin. They fought all trip long in Merida. The Israelis and Palestinians get along better than these two do unless they are in the swimming pool, in which case the world is in perfect harmony.

DOMINGO EN MERIDA - the reason we came on a Saturday. The Grand Plaza is shut down every Sunday for this festival. They have dancers and entertainment all day and night. They also have the best food we have had since being here - which is also the cheapest. For 8 dollars, Jay ate
tacos al pastor all day long. It was the best stuff! The kids even liked it. It has not been easy finding them reasonably healthy food of their liking. Thank goodness for McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut...

...and CORN!

All DONE!
